Ignition Switch Positions

LOCK (1)
The ignition key can only be removed in the LOCK position.
ACC (Accessory) (2)
Electrical accessories are operational. If difficulty is encountered turning the ignition switch to the ACC position, turn the steering wheel right and left while turning the key to release the tension.
ON (3)
Warning lights can be checked before starting the engine. This is the normal running position after the engine is started.
Do not leave the ignition switch ON when the engine is not running to prevent battery discharge.
START (4)
Turn the ignition key to the START position to start the engine. The engine will crank until you release the key; it then returns to the ON position. The brake system warning light can be checked in this position.
The steering column anti-theft lock (if equipped) does not replace the parking brake. Before leaving the driver's seat, always check that the shift lever is in P (Park) for the intelligent variable transmission, fully apply the parking brake, and turn the engine off. Unexpected and sudden vehicle movement may occur if these precautions are not taken.
WARNING - Ignition Switch
Never turn the ignition key to LOCK or ACC while the vehicle is moving. This will result in loss of steering control and braking function, which may cause an accident.
✽ NOTICE
If the ignition key is left in the ACC or ON position for a long period, the battery may discharge.
WARNING - Key Holder
Do not attach small wallets, multiple keys, or any other heavy accessories to the key ring used to start the vehicle. This may cause the key to accidentally move the ignition switch to the ACC position while the vehicle is moving, thereby increasing the risk of an accident and deactivating some safety functions.
WARNING - Leaving the Vehicle
To avoid unexpected or sudden vehicle movement, never leave your vehicle unless the transmission is locked in P (Park) and the parking brake is fully applied. Before leaving the driver's seat, always make sure the shift lever is in P (Park), fully apply the parking brake, and turn the engine off.
