Driving Your Vehicle

Smart Cruise Control

~2min read

➀ CRUISE indicator
➁ Set speed
➂ Distance to vehicle ahead

The Smart Cruise Control system allows you to program the vehicle to maintain a constant speed and a set distance to the vehicle ahead without pressing the accelerator pedal or the brake pedal.

WARNING

For your safety, read the Owner's Manual before using the Smart Cruise Control system.

✽ NOTICE

To activate Smart Cruise Control, press the brake pedal at least once after turning the ignition switch to the ON position or starting the engine. This checks the brake switch, which is important so that cancelling Smart Cruise Control works normally.

WARNING

The Smart Cruise Control (SCC) system is deactivated when driving at a speed of 10 km/h. In this case, SCC will not be able to maintain the distance set by the driver. It is the driver's responsibility to apply the brakes to maintain a safe distance from the approaching vehicle.

WARNING - Smart Cruise Control Limitations

The Smart Cruise Control system is a supplementary system and does not replace safe driving practices. It is always the driver's responsibility to check speed and distance to the vehicle ahead.

WARNING

  • If the Smart Cruise Control system remains on (Cruise indicator illuminated in the instrument cluster), Smart Cruise Control may be activated unintentionally. Keep the Smart Cruise Control system off (Cruise indicator off) when it is not in use to avoid setting a speed the driver is not aware of.
  • Use the Smart Cruise Control system only when driving on open roads in good weather.
  • Do not use Smart Cruise Control when it may not be safe to keep the vehicle at a constant speed. For example, in the following situations or environments:
    - Road intersections and railway crossings
    - Roads surrounded by many metal structures (subway construction, steel tunnels, etc.)
    - Parking lots
    - Lanes next to guardrails on the road
    - Slippery roads with rain, ice, or snow
    - Sharp curved roads
    - Steep hills
    - Windy roads
    - Off-road driving
    - Roads under construction
    - Roads with rumble strips
    - When driving near crash barriers
    - When driving on a steep bend
    - When vehicle detection capability is reduced due to vehicle modification resulting in a difference in height between the front and rear of the vehicle
    - When driving in heavy traffic or when road conditions make it difficult to drive at a constant speed
    - Limited visibility (rain, snow, smog, etc.)
  • Pay special attention to driving conditions when using the Smart Cruise Control system.
  • Be careful when driving downhill using SCC.
  • The cruise function must not be used when towing a vehicle to prevent damage.
  • Always set the vehicle speed in accordance with applicable and legal speed limits.
  • Always pay constant attention to the road and driving conditions, even when the Smart Cruise Control system is in use.
  • The Smart Cruise Control system cannot detect a stopped vehicle, pedestrians, or oncoming vehicles. Always look ahead carefully to react to unexpected and sudden situations.
