Integrated Drive Mode Control System

The drive mode can be selected according to the driver's preference or road conditions.
The mode changes each time the DRIVE MODE button is pressed.
- SMART mode: SMART mode automatically adjusts the drive mode (ECO, NORMAL, SPORT) according to the driver's driving habits.
- NORMAL mode: NORMAL mode provides smooth operation and comfortable driving. When NORMAL mode is selected, it is not displayed on the cluster.
- SPORT mode: SPORT mode provides sporty but firm driving.
The drive mode will be set to NORMAL mode when the engine is restarted. If the vehicle is in SMART/NORMAL mode, NORMAL mode will be set when the engine is restarted.
SMART Mode

SMART mode selects the appropriate drive mode among ECO, NORMAL, and SPORT by judging the driver's driving style (i.e., gentle or dynamic) from brake pedal depression or steering wheel operation.
- Press the DRIVE MODE button to activate SMART mode. When SMART mode is activated, the indicator on the instrument cluster will illuminate.
- The indicator illuminates blue when the driver's driving is classified as gentle. It illuminates white when the driver's driving is classified as normal. It illuminates red when the driver's driving is classified as dynamic, such as with sudden braking or sharp cornering.
- The vehicle starts in NORMAL mode if the engine was switched OFF while in SMART mode.
- SMART mode automatically controls driving characteristics such as shift patterns, engine torque, and handling according to the driver's driving habits.
✽ NOTICE
- When you drive the vehicle gently in SMART mode, the drive mode changes to ECO mode to improve fuel efficiency. However, actual fuel economy may vary depending on your driving conditions (i.e., uphill/downhill, vehicle deceleration/acceleration).
- When you drive the vehicle dynamically in SMART mode with sudden braking or sharp cornering, the drive mode changes to SPORT mode. However, this may adversely affect fuel economy.
Various road conditions you may encounter in SMART mode
- The drive mode automatically changes from SMART ECO mode to SMART NORMAL mode after a certain period of time when you gently depress the accelerator pedal (your driving is classified as gentle).
- The drive mode automatically changes from SMART ECO mode to SMART NORMAL mode after a certain period of time when you suddenly or repeatedly depress the accelerator pedal.
- The drive mode automatically changes to SMART NORMAL mode with the same driving pattern when the vehicle starts climbing an uphill slope of a certain angle. The drive mode automatically returns to SMART ECO mode when the vehicle enters a level road.
- The drive mode automatically changes to SMART SPORT when you accelerate the vehicle rapidly or repeatedly operate the steering wheel (your driving is considered sporty). In this mode, your vehicle downshifts for quicker acceleration/deceleration and increased engine braking efficiency.
- You may still feel engine braking efficiency even if you release the accelerator pedal in SMART SPORT mode. This is because your vehicle remains in a lower gear for a certain period of time.
- The drive mode automatically changes to SMART SPORT mode only in dynamic driving situations. In most normal driving situations, the drive mode is set to either SMART ECO mode or SMART NORMAL mode.
SMART Mode Limitation
SMART mode may be limited in the following situations. (The OFF indicator illuminates in these situations.)
- The driver manually moves the shift lever: SMART mode is deactivated.
- Cruise control is activated: The cruise control system may deactivate SMART mode. (SMART mode is not automatically deactivated simply by activating the cruise control system.)
- The transmission fluid temperature is either extremely low or extremely high: SMART mode may be active in most normal driving situations. However, an extremely high or low transmission fluid temperature may temporarily deactivate SMART mode because the transmission is not in normal operating condition.
SPORT Mode

SPORT mode focuses on dynamic driving by automatically adjusting the steering, engine, and transmission.
- When the DRIVE MODE button is pressed and SPORT mode is selected, the SPORT indicator (red) illuminates.
- When SPORT mode is activated and the ENGINE START/STOP button is turned off and on, the mode changes to NORMAL mode. To activate SPORT mode again, press the DRIVE MODE button again.
• If the system is activated:
- When holding the vehicle speed, the transmission maintains the gear and engine speed for some time, even though the accelerator pedal is not depressed.
- Upshifting is delayed.
✽ NOTICE
In sport mode, fuel economy may decrease.
