Driving Your Vehicle
Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
In this manual: Driving Your Vehicle
~2min read

The Lane Keeping Assist system is designed to detect lane markings on the road using a front view camera mounted on the windshield and assists steering to help the driver keep the vehicle within its lane.
When the system detects the vehicle drifting out of its lane, it warns the driver with a visual and audible warning, and applies a light counter-steering torque in an attempt to prevent the vehicle from leaving its lane.
WARNING
The Lane Keeping Assist system is a supplemental system and does not replace safe driving practices. It is the driver's responsibility to always pay attention and drive safely.
WARNING
- The driver is responsible for being aware of the surroundings and controlling the vehicle while applying safe driving practices.
- Do not turn the steering wheel suddenly while the steering wheel is receiving assistance from the system.
✽ NOTICE
- LKA helps prevent the driver from unintentionally leaving the lane by assisting the driver with steering. However, the system is only a convenience feature and the steering wheel is not always under control. While driving, the driver must pay attention to the steering wheel.
- LKA operation may be cancelled or may not operate properly due to road and surrounding conditions. Always be careful while driving.
- Do not disassemble the front view camera when installing window tint or applying any type of coating or accessories. If the camera is disassembled and reassembled, take your vehicle to an authorized Kia dealer and have the system checked for necessary calibration.
- When replacing the windshield, take your vehicle to an authorized Kia dealer and have the system checked to see if calibration is necessary.
- The system is designed to detect lane markings using the front view camera. If lane markings are difficult to detect, the system may be limited. Always be careful when using the system.
- When lane markings are difficult to detect, refer to the "Driver Attention" section in this chapter.
- Do not remove or damage the LKA-related parts.
- Do not place items on the instrument panel that reflect light, such as mirrors, white paper, etc. This may interfere with system operation.
- If the volume is too loud, you may not hear the warning sound from the LKA.
- If you continue to drive with your hands off the steering wheel, the LKA system will stop controlling the steering after the warning alarm sounds. After that, if you drive with your hands on the steering wheel, control will be activated again.
- At high vehicle speeds, the steering torque of the LKA may not be sufficient to keep your vehicle within the lane. In this case, the vehicle may drift out of its lane. Therefore, observe all applicable speed limits when using the LKA.
- If you attach objects to the steering wheel, the system may not assist in steering.
- If you attach objects to the steering wheel, the "hands off" warning may not function properly.
