Wiper Blades
This chapter on maintaining the wiper blades of the Kia Opirus provides practical tips on cleaning and replacement. Contaminants such as insect residue or wax can significantly impair wiping performance. It is therefore recommended to regularly clean the windshield and wiper blades with a suitable cleaner. The chapter also contains important safety warnings, for example on handling the wiper arms and on using specified replacement parts. Following these instructions ensures optimal visibility and protects the sensitive components of the windshield washer system.
Wiper Blade Maintenance
NOTE
Hot wax additives used in car washes are known to make the windshield harder to clean.
Contamination on both the windshield and the wiper blades can impair the effectiveness of the wipers.
Common contaminants include insects, sticky residue from blossoming trees and wax residue from car washes. If the wiper blades do not wipe the windshield adequately, clean both the windshield and the wiper blades with a suitable cleaning agent and rinse with clear water.
CAUTIONTo avoid damaging the wiper blades, do not use gasoline or harsh solvents such as paint thinner for cleaning them.
Replacing the Wiper Blades
If the wiper blades no longer wipe properly, they may be worn and need to be replaced.
CAUTIONTo avoid damaging the wiper arms and/or other components, do not attempt to move the wipers manually.
NOTE
Use only specified wiper blades. Using non-specified wiper blades may cause malfunctions or damage.
NOTE
Do not let the wiper arm strike the windshield.

1. Lift the wiper arm and turn the wiper blade by approx. 90° to reach the plastic locking lever.

2. Press the locking lever down and slide the wiper blade downward.

3. Lift the wiper blade off the wiper arm.
4. Installation of the wiper blades is the reverse of removal.
The wiper blades of the Kia Opirus 2003–2011 contribute significantly to driving safety by ensuring clear visibility in all weather. Regular cleaning and timely replacement prevent streaking and noise.
Using specified wiper blades protects the windows and the wiper system from damage. This keeps the Kia Opirus a reliable vehicle in rain, snow and dirt.
FAQWhy should only specified wiper blades be used?
Because they fit precisely and ensure optimal wiping performance and protection of the windshield.
What to do if wiping performance is inadequate despite new wiper blades?
Thoroughly clean the windshield, as residue can impair function.
