Engine compartment. Engine oil and oil filter
The engine compartment of the Kia Opirus (2003–2012) is clearly laid out, so access to maintenance points such as the oil dipstick, brake fluid reservoir or air filter is easy. This chapter explains clearly how to correctly check and top up the engine oil level. It also emphasizes the importance of genuine oil filters and specified lubricants. Incorrect products can cause serious engine damage, so the recommendations for selecting and changing engine oil are essential for preserving the vehicle's value.

Checking the engine oil level
1. Make sure the vehicle is parked on level ground.
2. Start the engine and let it run until it reaches normal operating temperature.
3. Switch off the engine and wait approx. 5 minutes so the oil can drain back into the oil pan.
4. Remove the oil dipstick, wipe it clean and push it fully back into its guide tube.
5. Pull the oil dipstick out again and check the engine oil level. The engine oil level should be between the 'F' and 'L' marks.
If the engine oil level is near or at the 'L' mark, add oil until the level reaches the 'F' mark. Do not overfill with engine oil.

Use only specified engine oil (see the section "Recommended Lubricants" later in this chapter for details).
CAUTION - Engine oilProlonged skin contact with used engine oil can cause health problems.
To protect your skin, wash your hands with warm water and soap as soon as possible every time you have come into contact with used engine oil.
CAUTION- Although different oil filters may look very similar externally, their internal design can differ significantly. Such filters must never be interchanged. To avoid serious engine damage, use only specified oil filters. Contact an authorized KIA dealer for this.
- Follow the instructions carefully. Improper installation of an oil filter can lead to oil leakage and engine damage. Drained engine oil must be disposed of in accordance with the applicable regulations. Never allow used oil to enter household waste or drains.
The engine oil and oil filter of the Kia Opirus 2003–2011 play a decisive role in engine service life and performance. Regular checking of the oil level and timely replacement of oil and filter ensure trouble-free operation.
Only specified oils and filters guarantee full performance and prevent damage. This keeps the Kia Opirus a reliable vehicle with a high quality standard.
