Certification Label

The certification label is located on the driver's door pillar at the center pillar.
This label shows the maximum permissible weight of the fully loaded vehicle. This is called the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). The GVWR includes the weight of the vehicle, all passengers, fuel, and cargo.
This label also shows the maximum weight that the front and rear axles can carry, called the Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR).
To determine the actual front and rear axle loads, you must drive to a weigh station and weigh your vehicle. Your dealer can assist you with this. Be sure to distribute the load evenly on both sides of the centerline.
WARNING - Overloading
- Never exceed the GVWR for your vehicle, the front or rear GAWR, and the vehicle capacity weight. Exceeding these values may result in an accident or vehicle damage. You can calculate the weight of your cargo by weighing items (or people) before placing them in the vehicle. Be careful not to overload your vehicle.
- Do not load the vehicle heavier than the gross vehicle weight rating, or the maximum front or rear GAWR and vehicle capacity weight. If you do, parts of your vehicle, including the tires, may fail, and this may change the handling and braking performance of your vehicle. This may result in loss of control and an accident. In addition, overloading may shorten the service life of your vehicle.
This label helps you determine how much cargo and installed equipment your vehicle can carry.
If you carry items in the vehicle such as suitcases, tools, packages, or anything else, they will move as fast as the vehicle. If you need to stop or turn suddenly, or in the event of a collision, the items will continue moving and may cause injury if they strike the driver or a passenger.
WARNING
- Overloading your vehicle may cause heat buildup in the vehicle's tires and possible tire failure, which may result in an accident.
- Overloading the vehicle may increase braking distance, which may result in a crash.
- An accident resulting from poor vehicle handling, tire damage, or increased braking distance may result in serious injury or death.
CAUTION
- Overloading the vehicle may cause damage to it. Repairs are not covered by your warranty. Do not overload your vehicle.
- Using heavier suspension components to improve durability may not change your vehicle's weight ratings. Ask your dealer to help you load your vehicle correctly.
WARNING! Unsecured Cargo
Items you carry in the vehicle may suddenly strike and injure passengers during a stop, sharp turn, or collision.
- Place items in the cargo area of your vehicle. Try to distribute the weight evenly.
- Never stack items, such as suitcases, inside the vehicle above the top of the seatbacks.
- Do not leave an unsecured child restraint in the vehicle.
- If you carry anything in the vehicle, secure it.
- Do not drive with a seat folded unless necessary.
