Description and Operation

The electric vehicle operates by converting electrical energy into kinetic energy in the drive motor and high voltage battery. It can be recharged with high voltage energy through the IBC or OBC. The drive motor not only drives the vehicle but also acts as an AC generator to generate electrical energy used to recharge the high voltage battery through regenerative braking. The operating principles of each module are described in detail below.

High Voltage Electrical Block Diagram

[Start/ Acceleration/ Hill Climbing]
Electrical energy stored in the high voltage battery pack is used to generate driving force from the drive motor. Electrical energy is converted into kinetic energy, and the driving force is transmitted to the wheels.
[Deceleration (Regenerative Braking)]
- The drive motor operates as an AC generator and uses the kinetic energy generated during braking to recharge electrical energy into the high voltage battery pack. - Activation: When vehicle speed exceeds 10 km/h. - Deactivation: When vehicle speed is less than 3 km/h.
[Rapid Charging]
- Charging power: 500 V, 200 A - Charging type: Direct current (DC) - Charging time: Approx. 25 min. - Charging flow: Rapid charging station -> High voltage battery system assembly - Charging amount: 80% SOC of high voltage battery
[Normal Charging]
- Charging power: 220 V, 35 A - Charging type: Alternating current (AC) - Charging time: Approx. 5 hours - Charging flow: Standard charging station -> On-Board Charger (OBC) -> High voltage battery system assembly - Charging amount: 95% SOC of high voltage battery
