Side Impact Sensor (SIS) Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

The side impact sensor (SIS) system consists of two P-SIS sensors installed in the center of each front door module (left and right) and two SIS sensors installed in the center of each adjacent pillar (left and right). The P-SIS, or pressure side impact sensor, detects pressure caused by a collision at its mounting location. The side impact sensor is also called A-SIS because it detects acceleration. The SRSCM determines airbag deployment and timing based on the collision signal from the SIS during a crash.
