Removal

Side Impact Pressure Sensor

  • Removal of the airbag must be performed in accordance with the precautions/procedures described earlier.
  • Before disconnecting the front impact sensor connector, disconnect the front airbag connector(s).
  • Do not turn the ignition ON or connect the battery cable while replacing the front impact sensor.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least thirty seconds before starting work.
  2. Remove the front door trim panel. (Refer to Body - "Front Door Trim")
  3. Disconnect the pressure-type side impact sensor connector (A) and remove the side impact sensor mounting screws (B).
  4. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least three minutes before starting work.
  5. To remove the seat belt anchor device (C), keep pressing the locking pin (A) in the direction of the arrow, then remove the seat belt after pressing the locking pin (B).
  6. Remove the center pillar lower garnish. (Refer to Body — "Center Pillar Garnish")
  7. Disconnect the side impact sensor connector (A).
  8. Loosen the side impact sensor mounting bolt and remove the side impact sensor (B).

Installation

Side Impact Pressure Sensor

  1. Install the new pressure side impact sensor using the screws (B), then connect the pressure side impact sensor connector (A).

    Tightening torque: 3.5 ~ 5.7 N·m

    • Use the specified screws.
  2. Install the front door trim panel. (Refer to Body - "Front Door Trim Panel")
  3. Connect the negative battery cable.
  4. After installing the pressure side impact sensor, check that the system operates correctly:
    • Turn the ignition ON; the SRS indicator should illuminate for approximately six seconds, then turn off.
    • Observe the specified tightening torque to prevent damage to the pressure and side impact sensors (P-SIS) and to tighten the screw properly.
    • Durability problems may occur with the P-SIS, or detection performance may decrease, if the threaded bushing is missing.
    • The door module must not be deformed, because the SRSCM detects impact through the pressure sensor in the door module.
Side Impact Sensor
  • Do not turn the ignition ON or connect the battery cable while replacing the front impact sensor.
  1. Install the new side impact sensor (B) using the bolt, then connect the side impact sensor connector (A).

    Tightening torque: 7.8 ~ 9.8 N·m

  2. Install the center pillar lower garnish. (Refer to Body — "Center Pillar Garnish")
  3. Insert the seat belt into the emergency locking retractor (A).
Make sure the stopper pin is connected correctly.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.
  5. After installing the side impact sensor, check that the system operates correctly:
    • Turn the ignition ON; the SRS indicator should illuminate for approximately six seconds, then turn off.
