Removal

  1. Remove the ignition key from the vehicle.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least three minutes before starting work.
  3. Disconnect the DAB, PAB, SAB, CAB, and BPT connectors.
  4. Remove the floor console. (Refer to Body - "Floor Console")
  5. Remove the rear heater connecting duct (A).
  6. Lift the SRSCM connector lock and disconnect the connector (A).
  7. Remove the SRSCM mounting bolts (3 pcs) from the SRSCM, then remove the SRSCM.

Installation

  1. Remove the ignition key from the vehicle.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least three minutes before starting work.
  3. Install the SRSCM using the SRSCM mounting bolts. Tightening torque (SRSCM mounting bolt): 7.8 ~ 9.8 N·m
    • Use new mounting bolts when replacing the SRSCM after a collision.
    • When installing the airbag wiring harness, make sure to install the ground points (C).
  4. Connect the SRSCM wiring harness connector.
  5. Install the rear heater connecting duct.
  6. Install the floor console. (Refer to Body - "Floor Console")
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8. After installing the SRSCM, check that the system operates correctly:
    • Turn the ignition ON; the SRS indicator should illuminate for approximately six seconds, then turn off.
The SRSCM detects vehicle rollover. SAB, CAB and BPT may be deployed if the technician moves the SRSCM out of the vehicle with the ignition ON. For this reason, turn the ignition OFF before safely removing the SRSCM from the vehicle.

Variant Coding

After replacing the SRSCM with a new one, you MUST perform the "Variant Coding" procedure.
  1. In variant coding mode, the SRSCM airbag warning lamp blinks periodically (ON: 0.5 s, OFF: 0.5 s) until the coding is completed normally.
  2. If variant coding fails, DTC B1762 (ACU coding error) will be displayed and the warning lamp will illuminate. In this case, repeat the variant coding procedure after confirming the cause in "DTC Fault State Information". Variant coding can be performed up to 255 times, but if the number of coding operations exceeds 255, DTC B1683 (maximum coding count exceeded) will be displayed and the SRSCM must be replaced.
  3. If battery voltage is low (less than 9 V) when attempting variant coding, DTC B1762 will be displayed. In this case, first charge the battery, then perform the variant coding procedure. This is because, although variant coding is performed normally, DTC B1762 and low battery voltage will be displayed.
