System Malfunction

When the warning message "Check System" appears, the system is not operating correctly. In this case, have the vehicle checked by an authorized Kia dealer.
WARNING
- The driver attention warning system does not replace safe driving practices. The driver is always responsible for driving carefully to prevent unexpected and sudden situations. Pay attention to road conditions at all times.
- This may indicate a need for a break depending on the driver's driving style or habits, even if the driver does not feel tired.
- A driver who feels tired should take a break, even if the driver attention warning system does not recommend a break.
✽ NOTICE
The Driver Attention Warning system uses a camera sensor mounted on the upper part of the windshield to operate. To keep the camera sensor in the best condition, observe the following:
- Do not disassemble the camera for temporary window tinting or attaching any kinds of coatings and accessories. If the camera is disassembled and reassembled, take your vehicle to an authorized Kia dealer and have the system checked for necessary calibration.
- Do not place reflective objects (such as white paper, mirror) on top of the instrument panel. Any light reflection may interfere with the operation of the driver attention warning (DAW) system.
- Be extremely careful not to get water on the camera sensor.
- Do not disassemble or subject the camera assembly to impact.
- Playing the vehicle's audio system at high volume may distract the driver's attention. Warning chimes of the warning system
✽ NOTICE
The driver attention warning system may not issue warnings in the following situations:
- Lane detection performance is limited. (For more information, refer to "Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) System" in this chapter.)
- The vehicle is moving erratically or making sharp turns to avoid obstacles (such as a construction site, other vehicles, fallen objects, or a rough road).
- Front steering control of the vehicle is significantly impaired (possibly due to large tire pressure differences, uneven tire wear, or wheel alignment).
- The vehicle is driving on a winding road.
- The vehicle is driving on a bumpy road.
- The vehicle is driving in windy conditions.
- The vehicle is being controlled by the following assist systems:
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) system
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system
- Smart Cruise Control (SCC) system
✽ NOTICE
The driver attention warning (DAW) system does not detect the actual fatigue or drowsiness of the driver. The system monitors driving and issues a warning if it detects inattentive driving behavior.
