Recommended cold tire inflation pressure
All tire pressures (including the spare) should be checked when the tires are cold. "Cold tires" means the vehicle has not been driven for at least three hours or driven less than 1.6 km (1 mile).
The recommended pressure must be maintained for better ride, better vehicle handling, and minimum tire wear.
For recommended inflation pressures, refer to "Tires and Wheels" in Chapter 8.

All specifications (size and pressure) can be found on the label attached to the vehicle.
WARNING - Insufficient Tire Pressure
Severe underinflation (70 kPa (10 psi) or more) can cause excessive heat buildup, leading to blowouts, tread separation, and other tire failures that may result in loss of vehicle control, serious injury, or death. This risk is much higher on hot days and when driving long distances at high speeds.
CAUTION
- Underinflation also causes excessive wear, poor handling, and reduced fuel economy. Wheel damage is also possible. Keep tire pressure at the correct level. If a tire frequently needs air, we recommend having the system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
- Overinflation causes a harsh ride, excessive wear in the center of the tire tread, and a greater likelihood of damage from road hazards.
CAUTION
- Warm tires normally exceed the recommended cold tire pressure by 28 to 41 kPa (4 to 6 psi). Do not release air from warm tires to adjust pressure, or the tires will be underinflated.
- Be sure to reinstall the valve caps on the tires. Without the valve cap, dirt or moisture can enter the valve core and cause air leakage. If a valve cap is missing, install a new one as soon as possible.
CAUTION - Tire inflation
Over-inflation or under-inflation can shorten tire life, adversely affect vehicle handling and lead to sudden tire failure. This may result in loss of vehicle control and possible injury.
CAUTION - Tire pressure
Always observe the following:
- Check tire pressure when the tires are cold (after the vehicle has been parked for at least three hours or has not been driven more than 1.6 km (1 mile) since starting).
- Check the spare tire pressure each time you check the pressure of the other tires.
- Never overload your vehicle. Be careful not to overload the cargo area if your vehicle is equipped with one.
- Worn or old tires can cause accidents. If your tread is worn badly, or if your tires have been damaged, replace them.
