Tire Rotation

~1min read

To equalize tread wear, it is recommended that the tires be rotated every 12,000 km (7,500 miles), or sooner if uneven wear develops.

When rotating, check the tires for proper balance.

When rotating tires, check for uneven wear and damage. Abnormal wear is usually caused by incorrect tire pressure, incorrect wheel alignment, unbalanced wheels, hard braking, or hard cornering. Look for bumps or bulges on the tread or sidewall. Replace the tire if you find any of these conditions. Replace the tire if fabric or cord is visible. After rotation, be sure to set the front and rear tire pressures to specification and check the wheel nut torque.

Refer to "Tires and Wheels" in chapter 8.

■ With full-size spare tire

■ Without spare tire

■ Directional tires

Disc brake pads must be checked for wear whenever the tires are rotated.

✽ NOTICE

Radial tires with an asymmetric tread pattern should be rotated only front to rear, not side to side.

WARNING

  • Do not use the compact spare tire for tire rotation.
  • Never mix bias-ply and radial-ply tires on the vehicle under any circumstances. This may cause unusual handling characteristics which can result in death, serious injury or property damage.
