Tire Replacement

If a tire wears evenly, the tread wear indicator will appear as a solid band across the tread. This indicates that less than 1.6 mm (1/16 in.) of tread remains on the tire. Replace the tire when this occurs.
Do not wait until the band appears across the entire tread before replacing the tire.
CAUTION
After replacing tires, re-check and tighten the wheel nuts after approximately 1,000 km (620 miles). If the steering wheel shakes or the vehicle vibrates while driving, the tire may be out of balance. Balance the tires. If the problem is not resolved, we recommend that you contact an authorized Kia dealer.
✽ NOTICE
We recommend that when replacing tires, you use the same tires as originally fitted to the vehicle.
Otherwise, vehicle handling will be affected.
WARNING! Tire Replacement
- Driving on worn tires is very dangerous and will reduce braking efficiency, steering accuracy and traction.
- Your vehicle is equipped with tires designed to provide safe driving and handling. Do not use tire and wheel sizes and types that differ from those originally installed on your vehicle. This may affect the safety and performance of your vehicle, which may lead to loss of control or rollover and serious injury. When replacing tires, be sure to equip all four wheels with tires and wheels of the same size, type, tread, brand and load carrying capacity.
- Using any other tire size or type may seriously affect ride comfort, handling, ground clearance, braking distance, body-to-tire clearance, snow chain clearance and speedometer accuracy.
- It is best to replace all four tires at the same time. If this is not possible or necessary, replace the two front or the two rear tires as a pair. Replacing only one tire may seriously affect your vehicle's handling.
- ABS works by comparing wheel speeds. Tire size can affect wheel rotation speed. When replacing tires, all 4 tires must be the same size as originally supplied with the vehicle. Using tires of a different size may cause the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) to operate irregularly.
Compact Spare Tire Replacement
The compact spare tire has a shorter tread life than a regular-size tire. Replace it when you see the tread wear indicator bars on the tire. The replacement compact spare tire must be the same size and design as the one supplied with your new vehicle and must be installed on the same compact spare wheel. The compact spare wheel is not designed for installation on a regular-size wheel, and the compact spare tire is not designed for mounting on a regular-size wheel.
