Repair Procedures

Removal

Oil Pump Assembly

  1. Remove the automatic transmission assembly.

    (Refer to Automatic Transmission System - Automatic Transmission)

  2. Remove the torque converter (A).

  3. Remove the torque converter housing (A) from the transmission case (B).

    Tightening torque: 27.5 - 34 N·m

  4. Remove the oil filter (B) after loosening the bolts (A).

    Tightening Torque: 9.8–11.8 N·m

  5. Remove the oil pump (A) by loosening the bolts.

    Tightening torque: 19.6–26 N·m

  6. Remove the thrust washer (A) from the oil pump (B).

Installation

  1. Install the thrust washer (A) onto the oil pump assembly (B).

  2. Install the oil pump assembly (A).

    Tightening torque: 19.6–26 N·m

  3. After tightening the oil pump mounting bolts, check the input shaft end play by pulling the spline (A) upward. The end play should be 0.55–0.85 mm (0.0217–0.0335 in).

  4. Install the oil filter (A).

    Tightening Torque: 9.8–11.8 N·m

  5. Apply sealant (A) to the surface of the transmission case.

    Recommended sealant: Threebond 1281B or LOCTITE FMD-546.

  6. Install the torque converter housing (A) onto the transmission case (B).

    Tightening torque: 27.5 - 34 N·m

  7. Install the torque converter (A).

  8. Install the automatic transmission assembly.

Replacement

O-ring

  1. Remove the automatic transmission assembly.

    (Refer to Automatic Transmission System - Automatic Transmission)

  2. Remove the torque converter.

  3. Remove the clutch housing (A) from the transmission case (B).

    Tightening torque: 27.5 - 34 N·m

  4. Replace the O-ring (A) with a new one.

  5. Apply sealant (A) to the surface of the transmission case.

    Recommended sealant: Threebond 1281B or LOCTITE FMD-546.

  6. Install the torque converter housing (A) onto the transmission case (B).

    Tightening torque: 27.5 - 34 N·m

  7. Install the torque converter (A).

  8. Install the automatic transmission assembly.
