Curtain airbag (if equipped)

Curtain airbags are located along the roof rails on both sides, above the center pillar.

They are designed to protect the heads of front seat occupants and outboard rear seat occupants in a side impact of a certain severity.

Curtain airbags are designed to deploy only in certain side impacts, depending on the severity, angle, speed and point of impact. Curtain airbags are not designed to deploy in every side impact, and they do not deploy in frontal impacts, rear impacts or rollovers.

WARNING

  • For side airbags (side and/or curtain) to provide maximum protection, front seat occupants and outboard rear seat occupants must sit upright with their seat belts properly fastened. In particular, children must sit in the appropriate child safety seats installed on the rear seats.
  • When children sit in the outboard rear seats, they must use appropriate child safety seats. Child safety seats must be installed as far as possible from the door and must be secured firmly.
  • Do not allow passengers seated in positions with side and/or curtain airbags to rest their heads against the door, place their arms on the door, extend their arms out of the window, or place objects between themselves and the door.
  • Never attempt to open or repair any component of the curtain airbag system. This must be performed only by an authorized Kia dealer.

Failure to follow the above instructions may result in fatal or serious injuries to vehicle occupants in the event of a collision.
