Heating and Air Conditioning

1. Start the engine.
2. Set the mode to the desired position. For maximum efficiency of heating and cooling, use the following:
- Heating:
- Cooling:
3. Set the temperature control to the desired position.
4. Set the air intake control to the outside (fresh) air position.
5. Set the fan speed control to the desired speed.
6. If air conditioning is required, turn the A/C system on (if equipped).
Mode Selection

The mode selection knob controls the direction of airflow through the ventilation system.
Air can be directed to the floor, instrument panel vents, or windshield. Five symbols are used to represent the Face, Bi-Level, Floor, Floor/Defrost, and Defrost air positions.
Face Level (B, D)

The air flow is directed to the upper body and face. In addition, each vent can be adjusted to direct the air discharged from the vent.
Bi-Level (B, D, C, E)

Airflow is directed to the face and floor.
Floor level (C, E, A, D)

Most of the airflow is directed to the floor, with a small amount of air directed to the windshield and side window defrosters.
Floor/defrost level (A, C, D, E)

Most of the airflow is directed to the floor and windshield, with a small amount directed to the side window defrosters.
Defrost Level (A, D)

Most of the airflow is directed to the windshield, with a small amount of air directed to the side window defrosters.
Instrument Panel Vents

The vent outlets can be opened or closed individually using the adjustment ring. To close a vent, turn it down to the maximum position. In addition, you can adjust the direction of air delivered from these vents using the vent control lever, as shown in the illustration.
Temperature Control

The temperature control knob allows you to control the temperature of the air supplied from the ventilation system. To change the cabin air temperature, turn the knob to the right for warmer air or to the left for cooler air.
Air Intake Control

The air intake control is used to select outside (fresh) air or recirculated air position.
To change the air intake control position, press the control button.
Recirculated Air Position

With the recirculation air position selected, air from the cabin will be drawn through the heating system and heated or cooled according to the selected function.
Outside (Fresh) Air Position

When the outside (fresh) air position is selected, air is drawn in from outside the vehicle and heated or cooled according to the selected function.
NOTICE
Prolonged operation of the heater in the recirculation air position (without A/C) may cause the windshield and side windows to fog, and the cabin air may become stale.
Also, prolonged use of air conditioning in recirculation mode will cause excessively dry air inside the vehicle.
WARNING
- Continued use of the climate control system in the recirculation air position may allow humidity inside the vehicle to increase, which may fog the glass and reduce visibility.
- Do not sleep in the vehicle with the air conditioning or heating on. This may cause serious injury or death due to low oxygen levels and/or body temperature.
- Continued use of the climate control system in the recirculation air position may cause drowsiness and loss of control of the vehicle. Set the air intake control to the outside (fresh) air position as much as possible while driving.
Blower Speed Control

The ignition switch must be in the ON position for the blower to operate.
The blower speed control allows you to control the fan speed of the air flow from the ventilation system. To change the fan speed, turn the knob to the right for higher speed or to the left for lower speed.
Setting the blower speed control knob to the "0" position turns the blower off.
To Turn Off the Blower

To turn off the blower, turn the blower speed control knob to the "0" position.
Air Conditioning (A/C)

Press the A/C button to turn the air conditioning system on (the indicator will light). Press the button again to turn the air conditioning system off.
