Rear Parking Assist System Precautions
- The rear parking assist system may not sound consistently depending on the vehicle speed and the shape of the detected objects.
- The rear parking assist system may malfunction if the bumper height or sensor installation has been changed or damaged. Any non-factory installed equipment or accessories may also interfere with sensor performance.
- The sensor may not detect objects less than 30 cm (12 in) from the sensor, or it may detect an incorrect distance. Be careful.
- When the sensor is frozen or covered with snow, mud, or water, the sensor may not operate until the contamination is removed with a soft cloth.
- Do not press, scratch, or strike the sensor. Damage to the sensor may occur.
NOTICE
This system can only detect objects within the range and location of the sensors. It cannot detect objects in other areas where sensors are not installed. In addition, small or thin objects, such as poles or objects located between the sensors, may not be detected by the sensors.
Always visually check behind the vehicle when backing up.
Be sure to inform drivers of the vehicle who may not be familiar with the system about the system's capabilities and limitations.
WARNING
Be especially careful when driving close to objects on the road, especially pedestrians and especially children. Keep in mind that some objects may not be detected by the sensors due to the distance to the object, size or material, all of which may limit the effectiveness of the sensor.
Always perform a visual inspection to make sure the vehicle is clear of all obstacles before moving the vehicle in any direction.
