Transmitter precautions
NOTICE
The transmitter will not operate if any of the following occurs:
- The ignition key is in the ignition switch.
- You exceed the operating range limit (approximately 10 m [30 ft]).
- The transmitter battery is weak.
- Other vehicles or objects may block the signal.
- Extremely cold weather.
- The transmitter is near a radio transmitter, such as a radio station or airport, which may interfere with normal transmitter operation.
If the transmitter does not operate properly, lock and unlock the door with the ignition key. If you have a problem with the transmitter, Kia recommends contacting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
• If the transmitter is in close proximity to your mobile phone or smartphone, the signal from the transmitter may be blocked by normal operation of your mobile phone or smartphone. This is especially important when the phone is active, such as making or receiving calls, sending or receiving text messages, and/or sending or receiving e-mails. Avoid placing the transmitter and your mobile phone or smartphone in the same trouser or jacket pocket, and keep a sufficient distance between the two devices.
CAUTION
- Keep the transmitter away from water or any other liquid. If the keyless entry system does not operate due to exposure to water or liquids, this is not covered by the manufacturer's vehicle warranty.
- Keep the transmitter away from electromagnetic materials, which block electromagnetic waves on the key surface.
CAUTION
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. If the smart key system does not operate due to changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance, it will not be covered by the manufacturer's vehicle warranty.
