WARNING

Observe the following precautions.

Otherwise, the driver's floor mat may slip and interfere with pedal operation while driving. This may cause an unexpected increase in speed, or it may become difficult to stop the vehicle. As a result, an accident resulting in death or serious injury may occur.

When installing the driver's floor mat

  • Do not use floor mats designed for other models or model years, even if they are genuine Lexus floor mats.
  • Use only floor mats designed for the driver's side.
  • Always secure the floor mat properly with the supplied retaining hooks (clips).
  • Do not stack two or more floor mats on top of each other.
  • Do not install the floor mat upside down or inside out.

Before driving

  • Make sure the floor mat is properly secured in the correct position with all supplied retaining hooks (clips). Check this especially after every floor cleaning.
  • With the engine off and the shift lever in "P", fully depress each pedal to the floor to make sure it is not obstructed by the floor mat.

Safe Driving

To drive the vehicle safely, adjust the seat and mirrors properly before driving.

Correct Driving Posture

Richtige Fahrhaltung
  1. Adjust the seatback recline so that you sit upright and do not need to lean forward to steer.
  2. Adjust the seat so that you can fully depress the pedals and your arms are slightly bent when you hold the steering wheel.
  3. GS350/GS200t: Lock the head restraint so that the center of the head restraint is at ear level.
  4. Fasten the seat belt correctly.

Correct Use of Seat Belts

Before every trip, make sure that all occupants have fastened their seat belts.

Use a child seat suitable for the child's age and size until the child is big enough to wear the seat belt correctly.

Adjusting the Mirrors

Make sure you have a good view to the rear by adjusting the inside rear view mirror and the outside mirrors correctly.

WARNING

Observe the following precautions.

Otherwise, fatal or serious injuries may result.

  • Do not adjust the driver's seat position while driving. Otherwise, you may lose control of the vehicle.
  • Do not place cushions between your back and the backrest of the driver's or front passenger's seat. A cushion can prevent a correct sitting posture and reduce the effectiveness of the seat belt and head restraint.
  • Do not place objects under the front seats. Objects under the front seats can become trapped in the seat tracks and prevent the seat from locking correctly. This may lead to an accident, and the adjustment mechanism may also be damaged.
  • When driving long distances, take regular breaks before you feel tired. If you feel tired or drowsy while driving, do not force yourself to continue; stop and rest immediately.

Before driving, the Lexus GS (4th gen) provides clear instructions on the optimal seat and mirror positions to ensure maximum comfort and safety. The correct driving posture is explained clearly and contributes significantly to control of the vehicle. Equally important is the correct use of floor mats so that they do not interfere with pedal operation.

These recommendations help the driver not only to operate the vehicle safely but also to avoid potential hazards. In this way, the Lexus GS demonstrates its commitment to the highest levels of safety and ease of use.
