Tailgate
WARNING
Never carry passengers in the cargo area: Carrying passengers in the cargo area is dangerous. These occupants may be seriously injured or killed during sudden braking or in a crash.
Do not drive with the tailgate open: Exhaust gases entering the vehicle are dangerous.
Driving with the tailgate open allows exhaust gases to enter the vehicle. Exhaust gases contain CO (carbon monoxide), which is colorless, odorless and highly poisonous. It can cause loss of consciousness or death. In addition, in a crash, an open tailgate may allow passengers to be thrown out of the vehicle.
Do not leave cargo improperly secured (stacked) in the cargo area. Otherwise it may shift or tip over, causing injury or an accident.
Also, do not load cargo so that it extends above the height of the seatbacks. It may block your side or rear view.
CAUTION
- Before opening the tailgate, remove any accumulated snow or ice from it. Otherwise, the tailgate may close under the weight of the snow or ice, causing injury.
- Use caution when opening/closing the tailgate in strong winds.
A strong gust of wind against the tailgate may close it suddenly, causing injury.
If the tailgate is only partially open, vibration or wind may cause it to close suddenly and cause injury.
Otherwise, you may be burned by exhaust gases coming from the tailpipe.

The rear shelf is designed only to cover luggage in the trunk and is not designed to carry heavy, unsecured objects, which pose a safety hazard in the event of a rollover.
Secure heavy objects or luggage to the trunk floor using the tie-down hooks.
Before driving, check that luggage and cargo are properly secured: Unsecured luggage is a safety hazard while driving, because in sudden braking or a collision it may move and cause injury to passengers.
