- The steering is only power-assisted when the engine is running. If the engine is stopped or the power steering system is not working, the vehicle can still be steered, but it requires more physical effort.
If the steering wheel feels stiffer than usual during normal driving, consult an authorized Mazda dealer.
- For vehicles equipped with a Type A instrument panel, check the vehicle condition or have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Mazda dealer as indicated.
- A malfunction in the system or operating conditions is indicated by a warning.
Refer to Indicator and Warning Lights on page 4-24.
WARNING
Never hold the steering wheel turned fully to the right or left for more than 5 seconds while the engine is running. This could damage the power steering system.
