WARNING

  • Headrests are supplemental safety devices to the vehicle's other safety systems. They can provide additional protection against injury in certain types of rear-end collisions. Adjust the headrests correctly according to the instructions given in this section. Check the position of your headrest if another person has used the seat before you. Do not attach any items to the headrest posts and do not remove the headrest. Do not allow anyone to sit in a seat from which the headrest has been removed. If you have removed the headrest, reinstall it and adjust it correctly before a passenger sits in that seat. Failure to follow these instructions may reduce the effectiveness of the headrests. It may also increase the risk of serious or fatal injury in a collision.

  • Your vehicle is equipped with a headrest that may be integrated, adjustable, or non-adjustable.
  • Adjustable headrests have several notches along the post to lock them in the desired adjustment position.
  • Non-adjustable headrests have a single locking notch to secure them to the seat frame.
  • Correct adjustment:
  • For the adjustable type, align the headrest so that the middle of your ear is approximately level with the center of the headrest.
  • If your ear is still higher than the recommended alignment, position the headrest at its highest setting.
  • If the headrest has been removed, make sure it is reinstalled and locked in place before riding in that seat.
