NISSAN Intelligent KeyMD
Only Intelligent Keys programmed into the memory of the components of your vehicle's Intelligent Key system and the NISSAN vehicle immobilizer system can be used to operate your vehicle. You can program and use up to four Intelligent Keys with one vehicle. New keys must be programmed by a NISSAN dealer before they can be used with your vehicle's Intelligent Key system and NISSAN vehicle immobilizer system. Since the memory of the Intelligent Key components must be erased during programming, bring all of your Intelligent Keys to your NISSAN dealer.
A key number plate is supplied with your vehicle's keys. Note this key number and keep it in a safe place (such as your wallet), but not in your vehicle. If you lose your keys, take this number to a NISSAN dealer to obtain duplicate keys. It is very important that you note the key number shown on the plate, since NISSAN does not keep records of these key numbers.
You will only need this number if you lose all of the vehicle's keys and no other key can be used to make copies. If you still have a key, your NISSAN dealer can make copies of it.
WARNING
To avoid damaging the Intelligent Key:
- Do not let the Intelligent Key, which contains electrical components, come into contact with water or salt water, as this could affect the operation of the system;
- Do not drop the Intelligent Key.
- Do not strike the Intelligent Key sharply against another object.
- Do not modify the Intelligent Key.
- Any exposure to liquid can damage the Intelligent Key. If the Intelligent Key is exposed to liquid, wipe it immediately until it is completely dry.
- Do not leave the Intelligent Key for an extended period in a place where the temperature exceeds 60°C (140°F).
- Do not place the Intelligent Key on a key ring with a magnet.
- Do not place the Intelligent Key near devices that produce a magnetic field, such as televisions, audio equipment and personal computers.
If an Intelligent Key is lost or stolen, NISSAN recommends erasing that Intelligent Key's ID code from the vehicle. This may prevent unauthorized use of the Intelligent Key to operate the vehicle.
Contact a NISSAN dealer for more information on how to erase the code.
