Older children
Children must be secured in a child restraint system with a harness until they reach the maximum height or weight limit specified by the child restraint system manufacturer.
When a child's height or weight exceeds the limit specified for the forward-facing child restraint system with harness, NISSAN recommends placing the child in a commercially available booster seat so that the seat belt can be adjusted properly. To allow proper seat belt fit, the booster seat must raise the child so that the shoulder belt crosses the chest and the upper middle part of the shoulder. The shoulder belt must not cross the neck or face and must not slip off the shoulder. The lap belt must lie snugly on the lower hips or upper thighs and must not rest on the abdomen. Use a booster seat only in seating positions equipped with a three-point seat belt. The booster seat must be suitable for the vehicle seat and must carry a label certifying that it meets the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards or the United States Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
Once the child can wear the shoulder belt without it crossing or resting near the face and neck, and the lap belt can be positioned correctly on the lower hips or upper thighs, use the seat belt without the booster seat.
WARNING
Never allow children to ride standing or kneeling on a seat, and never let them access the cargo area. In a collision or sudden stop, children could suffer serious or fatal injuries.
