Parking assistance

~7min read
Aide au stationnement

Parking assist makes parking easier by measuring the distance between the vehicle and obstacles and emitting audible signals. However, the driver remains fully responsible for the parking maneuver.

The system consists of four ultrasonic sensors located in each bumper, front and rear.

The system uses two different frequencies for the front and rear sensors, each with a different sound.

Advanced Park Assist guides the driver into a parking space by giving instructions in the driver information center and emitting audible signals.

Important Notes on Park Assist

Caution

Different reflective surfaces of objects or clothing, as well as external sources of interference, may, under certain conditions, prevent the system from recognizing obstacles.

Special attention must be paid to low obstacles that may damage the lower part of the bumper.

Notice

Sensor performance may be degraded by ice or snow, for example on the sensor.

Park Assist performance may be reduced due to heavy loading.

Specific conditions apply when larger vehicles are involved (e.g.

off-road vehicles, minivans, vans). Detection of objects in the upper area of the vehicle cannot be guaranteed.

Objects with a very narrow reflective cross-section, such as thin objects or soft materials, may not be detected by the system.

Park Assist will not detect objects outside its detection range.

Note

The parking assist system automatically detects a factory-fitted towing device. It is deactivated when the trailer plug is connected.

The sensor may detect an object that does not exist (phantom echo) due to external acoustic or mechanical interference.

The advanced parking assist system may not respond to changes in the parking space after the parallel parking maneuver has started.
