Refuelling

~1min read

Before starting to fill the tank, insert the nozzle so that it pushes the valve open and push it in as far as it will go (risk of fuel splashing).

Keep the nozzle in the same position until filling is complete.

After the pump cuts off automatically for the first time, you can only restart filling twice more. Do not try to add more fuel, so that the empty space provided in the design is kept.

While filling, make sure water does not get into the tank.

Flap A and its edges must be kept clean.

Petrol engine versions

Using petrol containing lead compounds would damage the exhaust emission control components and could void the warranty.

To prevent leaded petrol from being poured into the tank, the filler neck has a restriction with a flap that only allows the unleaded petrol pump nozzle (at the petrol station) to be inserted.

When refuelling, the engine must be completely switched off (not in standby): be sure to stop the engine by pressing stop button 3 (see the “Starting and stopping the engine” section in chapter 2).

Persistent smell of fuel If a smell of fuel appears and persists, do the following:
  • stop the vehicle if traffic conditions allow and switch off the ignition;
  • switch on the hazard warning lights, ask all passengers to leave the vehicle and stay at a safe distance from the traffic;
  • contact an Authorised Renault Dealer
