244 Coolant temperature sensor for injection and dashboard temperature gauge.
3-way sensor: two terminals for injection coolant temperature information, one for the dashboard coolant temperature gauge.

259 Coolant temperature warning thermoswitch on dashboard.

Operation

Sensor 244 allows:

  • to display coolant temperature on the dashboard,
  • to inform the injection ECU of engine coolant temperature.

Depending on coolant temperature, the injection ECU controls:

  • the injection system,
  • the cooling fan unit.

The fan unit runs at high speed (low and high speed are controlled by the A/C) if the temperature exceeds 99°C. It switches off if the temperature drops below 96°C (if a check is required, carry it out with the A/C off).
