SPECIAL NOTE FOR REFITTING THE STEERING WHEEL WITH AIRBAG
Make sure the clock spring behind the steering wheel is correctly positioned.
If there is any doubt about its centring, apply the method described in chapter 88 "Driver airbag".
Replace the steering wheel bolt after each removal (pre-coated bolt) of a steering wheel fitted with an airbag.
Observe the tightening torque (4.5 daN.m).
IMPORTANT: Before reconnecting the driver airbag module, the system function check procedure must be carried out:
check that the airbag warning light on the dashboard lights with the ignition on,
connect an inert igniter to the driver airbag connector and check that the warning light goes out,
switch the ignition off, connect the airbag module in place of the inert igniter and screw the module onto the steering wheel,
switch the ignition on, check that the warning light lights for 3 seconds when the ignition is switched on, then goes out and stays off.
If the warning light does not operate as indicated above, refer to the "Diagnosis" section and check the system using the XRBAG tool (Elé. 1288) (see section 88).
