PR003 PEDAL LOAD

INSTRUCTIONS

No fault must be present or stored.

Carry out this diagnosis after an inconsistency has been noted in the "driver parameters" menu or following a customer complaint (lack of performance).

Check the "high and low stops" of the pedal sensor in the engine compartment (jamming, broken housing).

Check the mounting of the pedal sensor in the engine compartment (play, broken housing, etc.).

Check the accelerator control (cable tension, friction, obstruction).

Carry out the necessary repairs.

If all these checks are correct and the values given are not within the operating range of the sensor (0% to 120%), replace the pedal position sensor.

Parameters PR086 "Track 1 voltage" and PR088 "Track 2 voltage" are linked to the pedal load parameter. Refer to the conformity check to verify whether the track 1 and track 2 voltages are plausible for the applied pedal load.

If the voltages appear incorrect, replace the pedal position sensor.

AFTER REPAIR

Restart the conformity check from the beginning.

PR018 ESTIMATED AIR FLOW

INSTRUCTIONS

No fault must be present or stored. Carry out this diagnosis after an inconsistency has been noted in the "Air flow (Turbocharging - Intake)" parameters menu or following a customer complaint (lack of power, smoke, etc.).

If at idle, with EGR recirculation at approximately 40%, the air flow is approximately 60 kg/h, carry out the diagnosis in the "command interpretation" section of command AC002: "EGR solenoid valve". If the problem persists, check the conformity of the air intake circuit:
  • check that the air filter housing inlet is not blocked,
  • check that the air filter is not clogged,
  • check that the air flow meter is in good condition,
  • make sure the intake circuit is airtight and free of obstructions, from the air filter outlet to the intake manifold,
  • check that the intake flap is open at rest (check that the flap rod rests against its stop).
  • check the oil vapour recirculation circuit (excess oil).

Carry out the necessary repairs. If the problem persists:

Check the power supply to the air flow meter sensor:
  • +5 V on pin 3.
  • Earth on pin 2 (common earth with the air temperature sensor).

Check the continuity, the absence of parasitic resistance and the insulation of the wiring between:

Injection ECU connector B brown pin G1 → Pin 5 of the air flow meter

Repair if necessary. Check the power supply and current draw of the air flow meter power circuit, with ignition on and engine running:

  • +12 V on pin 4,
  • Battery earth on pin 6.

Current draw: ~ 70 mA with ignition on / ~ 130 mA at idle / 400 mA maximum.

If the air flow meter current draw measured during the check is zero, replace the air flow meter.

AFTER REPAIR

Restart the conformity check from the beginning.

PR035 ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE

INSTRUCTIONS

No fault must be present or stored. Carry out this diagnosis after finding an inconsistency in the "ECU states and main parameters" or "Air circulation (Boost - Intake)" parameter menu, or after a customer complaint (lack of power, smoke, etc.).

The atmospheric pressure sensor is internal to the ECU, so no electrical check is possible.

The sensor fallback value is 750 mbar.

If this value appears or any other inconsistent value, perform an ECU reset.

Refer to the "General" chapter if you plan to reprogram the ECU.

If the problem persists, contact your techline.

AFTER REPAIR

Restart the conformity check from the beginning.

PR037 REFRIGERANT FLUID PRESSURE

INSTRUCTIONS

No fault must be present or stored.

Carry out this diagnosis after finding an inconsistency in the "Cold loop" menu, or after a customer complaint (no air conditioning, etc.).

Step 1
  • Start the engine, switch on the air conditioning and raise engine speed to 1500 rpm:
  • Display PR037: "Refrigerant fluid pressure" in the "Cold loop" function of the diagnostic tool:

If the pressure is above ~ 27 bar, go to step 2.

If the pressure does not rise or remains below normal:

  • Make sure the air conditioning compressor and its relay are working correctly.
  • Check the refrigerant fluid pressure sensor accuracy by comparing* the value displayed by the tool (PR037) with the value given by the high-pressure gauge of a recharging station.

If the difference is ±1.5 bar (or 1500 mbar):

Check continuity, absence of parasitic resistance and insulation on the wiring between:

Injection ECU grey connector C, 24-way, pin C3 → Pin A refrigerant fluid pressure sensor
Injection ECU brown connector B, 48-way, pin F1 → Pin C refrigerant fluid pressure sensor
Injection ECU brown connector B, 48-way, pin F3 → Pin B refrigerant fluid pressure sensor

If these wiring connections are not at fault, replace the refrigerant fluid pressure sensor.

If there is no difference, the refrigerant fluid pressure sensor is correct: go to step 2.

Step 2

Carry out an air conditioning diagnosis.

*Note: The tool displays absolute pressure, while the high-pressure gauge of your recharging station displays gauge (relative) pressure.

The normal difference between these two readings equals atmospheric pressure, i.e. ~ 1000 mbar.

AFTER REPAIR

Restart the conformity check from the beginning.

PR038 RAIL PRESSURE

INSTRUCTIONS

Carry out this diagnosis:

  • Following interpretation of fault DF053: "Rail pressure regulation function",
  • After finding an inconsistency in the "Fuel / LPG circuit" function diagnosis,
  • Following interpretation of diagnosis AC011: "Rail pressure regulator" or,
  • Following a customer complaint (starting problems, lack of performance, stalling, etc.).
Check continuity and absence of parasitic resistance on the following wiring:

Injection ECU brown connector B, 48-way, pin G3 → Pin 2 rail pressure sensor connector
Injection ECU brown connector B, 48-way, pin A4 → Pin 3 rail pressure sensor connector
Injection ECU brown connector B, 48-way, pin C4 → Pin 1 rail pressure sensor connector

If all these wiring connections are correct, check the fuel pressure sensor power supply:

+ 5 V → Pin 3 of the rail pressure sensor connector
Earth → Pin 1 of the rail pressure sensor connector

Repair if necessary.

Check the low-pressure and high-pressure diesel circuit for leaks (visual checks, smell): pump body, pressure relief valve, pipes, rail and injector fittings, injector wells, etc.

If all previous checks are correct, switch the ignition on, wait more than 1 minute and display PR038: "Rail pressure".

If the value is below 50 bar, the rail pressure sensor is correct.

Otherwise, replace the rail pressure sensor and tighten it to 35 ±5 N·m.

AFTER REPAIR

Restart the conformity check from the beginning.

PR042 FILTERED BOOST PRESSURE

INSTRUCTIONS

Carry out this diagnosis: After finding an inconsistency in the "parameter" menu, following fault DF004: "Boost pressure sensor circuit", or following a customer complaint (lack of performance, smoke, etc.).

Ignition on, engine off:
  • Remove the boost pressure sensor,
  • With the sensor connected to the harness, read the PR042 value: "Filtered boost pressure" in the "Air circulation (Boost - Intake)" tab:
  • If the value is not very close to parameter PR035: "Atmospheric pressure" (maximum difference between PR035 and PR042 with engine off = ±20 mbar), check insulation and absence of parasitic resistance on the signal line and on the boost pressure sensor supply lines.
  • If the lines are correct, go to the following pressure test below.
  • Connect a vacuum pump to the boost pressure sensor.
  • Apply a pressure between 0.1 and 1.3 bar (maximum pressure to apply: 1300 mbar or 1.3 bar),
  • Compare the pressure value displayed in the "Air circulation (Boost / Intake)" tab with the value given by your vacuum pump:

If the difference* is ±100 mbar (or ±0.1 bar), replace the boost pressure sensor.

If there is no difference, the boost pressure sensor is correct.

*Note: The diagnostic tool displays absolute pressure, while the vacuum pump gauge displays gauge (relative) pressure.

The normal difference between these two readings equals atmospheric pressure, i.e. ~ 1000 mbar.

AFTER REPAIR

Restart the conformity check from the beginning.

PR059 INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE

INSTRUCTIONS

No fault must be present or stored. Perform this diagnosis after finding an inconsistency in the "ECU states and main parameters or Air circuit (Boost - Intake)" menu.

Check that the airflow meter and its connector are in good condition.

Repair if necessary.

Check for no parasitic resistance on the following circuits:

Brown connector B, 48-pin, pin G2 → Pin 1 of airflow meter connector
Brown connector B, 48-pin, pin E2 → Pin 2 of airflow meter connector

Repair if necessary.

If the temperature reading is inconsistent, check that the sensor follows the reference curve "Resistance versus temperature" correctly (negative temperature coefficient resistor).

3714 ± 161 Ω at 10 ˚C
2488 ± 90 Ω at 20 ˚C
1671 ± 59 Ω at 30 ˚C

Replace the airflow meter if the temperature sensor is drifting (a drifting sensor is often the result of an electrical shock).

An air temperature sensor stuck hot causes white smoke when cold and no turbocharger regulation below 60 ˚C.

An air temperature sensor stuck cold causes excess fuel consumption and engine noise when hot.

AFTER REPAIR

Restart the conformity check from the beginning.

PR063 FUEL TEMPERATURE

INSTRUCTIONS

No fault must be present or stored.

Perform this diagnosis after finding an inconsistency in the "Fuel circuit - LPG" menu.

WARNING

In relatively low outside temperatures, the difference between fuel temperature and engine temperature after a cold start may be greater than 30 ˚C.

In the "Fuel circuit - LPG" tab of PR063, check that the "Fuel temperature" value displayed is not the fallback value of 40 ˚C.

If so, check the fuel temperature sensor: check that the fuel temperature sensor and its connector are in good condition.

Repair if necessary.

Check for no parasitic resistance on the following circuits:

Brown connector B, 48-pin, pin H2 → Pin 1 of fuel temperature sensor
Grey connector C, 32-pin, pin F1 → Pin 2 of fuel temperature sensor

Repair if necessary.

If the temperature reading is inconsistent, check that the sensor follows the reference curve "Resistance versus temperature" correctly (negative temperature coefficient resistor).

3820 ± 282 Ω at 10 ˚C
2050 ± 100 Ω at 25 ˚C
810 ± 47 Ω at 50 ˚C

Replace the fuel temperature sensor if it is drifting (a drifting sensor is often the result of an electrical shock).

AFTER REPAIR

Restart the conformity check from the beginning.
