"Basic" navigation: Protection code

~2min read

CODE PROTECTION

Two system components are protected by a code:

  • A first four-digit protection code is linked to the radio navigation unit.

The user is asked for this code each time the power supply is cut.

This code must be entered using the control satellite.

The display shows "CODE" followed by "0000".

WARNING

If the code is incorrect, the radio navigation unit emits an audible signal, displays "CODE" and locks:

  • First error: 1 minute,
  • Second error: 2 minutes,
  • Third error: 4 minutes... (32 minutes maximum).

After the code is entered, some settings must be reprogrammed. Others are only requested the first time the code is entered (Telematics System chapter, "Basic" navigation: Setup, page 83C-13).

Note: The radio navigation unit can operate for 2 minutes without the code being entered (with regular audible signals).
  • A code exchanged between the front-loading CD changer and the radio navigation unit.
  • When a new front-loading CD changer is fitted, the system code is learned when the battery or the changer is connected.
  • When the radio navigation unit is replaced, the protection code of the old radio navigation unit connected to the changer can be entered. The changer learns the new code.
  • If the code of the old radio navigation unit is lost, the link code can be erased using an erase code. This erase code is supplied through the usual procedure.
WARNING
  • Boot-mounted changers are not coded.
  • Only front-loading CD changers are coded. The front-loading CD changer is supplied uncoded. As soon as it is installed on the vehicle, the changer learns the radio navigation unit code.
