I - BASIC PRINCIPLES OF THE TRAFFIC INFORMATION SERVICE
Coupled with navigation, the system provides traffic status information: "TMC: Traffic Message Channel".
The system uses:
- the navigation control unit, which receives, locates and processes the information received,
- the TMC location codes stored on the map CD-ROM,
- the information collected and broadcast (by the public authorities) in RDS-TMC format (communication protocol).
Traffic information collection and broadcast services in Europe, for which RENAULT is not responsible, are still evolving

II - REMINDERS ON HOW THE TERMINAL PROCESSES TRAFFIC INFORMATION
TMC icon display logic:
- Red = no traffic information broadcast in this geographic area, or insufficient reception,
- Black = no traffic information location codes on CD,
- Green = the system is tuned to a frequency that can broadcast traffic information.
The term "TMC" is replaced by the name of the service provider the system is tuned to (if the provider broadcasts a name).
The system can display information as text or as icons.
It suggests a detour if the disruption is on the calculated route.
The disruption level is shown by a "Δ H" icon:
- Green = disruption with diversion,
- Red = disruption without diversion,
- Solid red = very major disruption within a 50 km radius.
