These vehicles are required to have:

  • an automatic beam levelling system for each headlamp, based on the vehicle's attitude, acceleration, braking and speed,
  • headlamp washers.
IMPORTANT
  • Never switch on a bulb that is not installed in its headlamp (danger to eyes).
  • Xenon bulbs operate at 20000 V on ignition, then at 85 V AC in operation.
  • Wait for the control unit and ballast assemblies to cool down before removal.
  • Always disconnect the battery before any work.
Note:
  • The height of the light beam varies with vehicle speed.
  • Above 30 km/h, the lighting range is greater.

The bulbs contain no filament. The light is generated by two electrodes inside a quartz bulb containing a high-pressure gas (xenon) and mercury.

Each headlamp has a control unit built into the ballast.

This system can be diagnosed using the diagnostic tools.

The control unit - ballast assembly and the xenon bulb can be replaced independently of the headlamp unit.

WARNING

The actuator (stepper motor) cannot be removed from the headlamp.

If the actuator fails, replace the headlamp.
