Renault Mégane III Driver's Manual

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System

~3min read

Where fitted, this system monitors tyre inflation pressure.

Operating principle

Each wheel (except the spare wheel) has a sensor in the valve that periodically measures the tyre pressure.

The system informs the driver via display 1 and trip computer 2 that the tyres are sufficiently inflated, and warns of insufficient pressure or a leak.

fonction est uneThis function is an additional driving aid.

However, the function does not take the place of the driver.

It can therefore in no case replace the driver's attention or responsibility.

Check the tyre pressures, including the spare wheel, once a month.

Système de surveillance de pression des pneumatiques

The system monitors the tyre inflation pressures. The information is displayed on the instrument panel, depending on the vehicle. In this case, it appears:

  • with the ignition on, by scrolling through the trip computer information by pressing control 3 (refer to the “Trip computer” section in chapter 1);
  • or in the event of a fault while driving (refer to the following pages for the warning messages).

Pressures must be adjusted when the tyres are cold (refer to the “Tyre inflation pressures” section).

If the pressure cannot be checked on cold tyres, increase the recommended pressures by 0.2 to 0.3 bar (3 psi).

Never deflate a hot tyre.

Changing the wheels

if you change your wheels (winter tyres, etc.), the system resets automatically after approximately two minutes of driving at a minimum speed of 20 km/h.

de rouele système pouvant prendreWheel change

the system may take several minutes depending on driving conditions. For the wheel positions and pressures to be correctly recognised, check the tyre pressures after any intervention.

Display

Display 1 on the instrument panel and trip computer 2 inform you of any inflation faults (deflated wheel, punctured wheel, system out of service...).

Système de surveillance de pression des pneumatiques

“Tyre pressure to be readjusted”

A wheel F that turns solid indicates a deflated wheel.

“Inflate tyres for motorway”

All four F wheels turn solid: the tyre pressures are not suited to the driving speed.

Slow down or inflate all four tyres to the “motorway pressure” (refer to the label on the driver's door edge).

“Puncture”

Wheel F indicates that the wheel concerned is punctured or severely under-inflated.

Replace it or contact a Renault dealer if it is punctured. Readjust the tyre pressure if the wheel is deflated. This message is accompanied by the warning light.

“Tyre sensors missing” or “Tyre sensors to be checked”

A wheel E that disappears indicates a sensor fault or a missing sensor on that wheel (for example when the spare wheel is fitted to the vehicle...).

Spare wheel

When the vehicle is so equipped, the spare wheel does not have a sensor. When it is fitted to the vehicle, the message “Tyre sensors missing” appears on the instrument panel.

Replacing wheels/tyres

This system requires specific equipment (wheels, tyres, sensors...).

Consult a Renault dealer for tyre replacement and for accessories available and compatible with the system. Using any other accessory could affect the system's operation or damage a sensor.

Tyre repair sealant aerosols and inflation kit

Due to the specific design of the valves, only use equipment approved by the Renault network.
