Ambient Temperature Sensor Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

The ambient temperature sensor is located at the front of the condenser and measures the ambient air temperature. It is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor; resistance increases as temperature decreases and decreases as temperature increases. The sensor output is used for discharge temperature control, temperature-adjusted door control, blower motor speed control, blend mode control, and in-vehicle humidity control.
If the ambient temperature is below 1 °C, the A/C compressor will stop. The compressor will operate manually.
