To check the gear oil level, proceed as follows:

  1. Park the vehicle on level ground and apply the parking brake.
  2. Remove the filler plug 1.
  3. Insert a finger into the hole to feel the oil level. If the oil reaches the edge of the hole, the level is correct.

In that case, reinstall the plug.

  4. If the oil level is low, add gear oil through filler hole 1 until it reaches the edge of the hole, then reinstall the plug.
After driving, the transmission oil may be hot enough to cause burns. Wait until the filler plug has cooled enough to touch with a bare hand before checking the oil level. NOTE When tightening the plug, use "SUZUKI Bond No. 1215" or an equivalent sealant to prevent oil leaks.

Replacing the gear oil

Since special procedures, materials and tools are required, it is recommended that this work be carried out by an authorised SUZUKI dealer.
