On all Audi 80 engine versions, the electric fuel pump is installed in the fuel pickup housing at the bottom of the fuel tank. It receives electrical power through the fuel pump relay. It should be noted that the ignition/injection control unit includes a shut-off function for the battery, which ensures the pump operates only when the engine is running.


The fuel pump shut-off is intended to prevent fire caused by fuel leaking as a result of an accident or collision.
