Preliminary measures to take before changing a wheel

• Stop the vehicle at a sufficient distance from the traffic lane, away from traffic, on a level surface.
• Have all passengers get out. They must stay outside the danger zone (e.g. behind the guardrail).
• Apply the parking brake fully.
• Engage 1st gear (manual transmission) or move the selector lever to P (automatic transmission).
• If towing a trailer: disconnect the trailer from your vehicle.
• Remove the onboard tool kit and the spare wheel from the luggage compartment.

CAUTION!

If you have a flat tyre and traffic is heavy, switch on the hazard warning lights and place the warning triangle. In this way you protect yourself as well as other road users.

Warning!

If you change a wheel on a sloping road, block the opposite wheel with a stone or a similar object to prevent the vehicle from rolling away.
