Anti-theft alarm system

~5min read

Applies to vehicles: with anti-theft alarm system

Description

The anti-theft alarm system triggers the alarm when someone attempts to enter the vehicle.

The anti-theft alarm system is designed to prevent break-in and theft attempts on the vehicle. Visual and audible alarm signals are triggered when the system detects an unauthorised attempt to enter the vehicle.

How do you activate the system?

The anti-theft alarm system is activated automatically when you lock the vehicle with the key from the closed driver's door, or with the remote control. The system becomes operational approximately 30 seconds after locking.

How do you deactivate the system?

The anti-theft alarm system is deactivated when you unlock the vehicle using only the remote control. If you do not open the vehicle within 60 seconds of the radio signal being sent, the system locks again.

If you unlock the vehicle with the key from the driver's door, all other doors, the tailgate and the fuel filler flap remain locked.

If you unlock the vehicle with the key from the driver's door, you must insert the key into the ignition switch and switch on the ignition within 15 seconds to deactivate the anti-theft alarm system. If you do not switch on the ignition within 15 seconds, the alarm is triggered.

When is the alarm triggered?

The following areas of the locked vehicle are monitored:

  • Engine compartment (engine hood)
  • Luggage compartment
  • Doors
  • Vehicle tilt
  • Ignition
  • Radio (Audi original radios only)
  • Passenger compartment

If anyone enters one of the areas listed above, the alarm is triggered.

When unlocking and opening the tailgate with the key, the alarm is also triggered.

How do you switch off the alarm?

The alarm is switched off when you unlock the vehicle with the remote control and switch on the ignition with the key, thereby "deactivating" the anti-theft alarm system.

The alarm also stops at the end of the alarm cycle.

Turn signals

When you lock the vehicle, the turn signals flash briefly to indicate that the doors, engine hood and tailgate are properly locked.

If this is not the case, check the doors, engine hood and tailgate. If the anti-theft alarm system has already been activated, the turn signals will only flash once the doors, engine hood or tailgate have been properly closed.

LED

After the vehicle is locked, the LED in the bulge of the driver's door flashes for approximately 30 seconds, first at a fast rate, then at a slower rate. This indicates that the anti-theft alarm system with interior monitoring is operational. If the LED stays lit for approximately 30 seconds instead of flashing after locking, the anti-theft alarm system is faulty.

Note

  • To ensure the anti-theft alarm system works properly, check that all doors, windows and the sunroof* are closed before leaving the vehicle.
  • If you unlock the vehicle with the key at the driver's door, the central locking will only be fully operational once you have switched on the ignition.
  • If either of the two battery terminals is disconnected while the anti-theft alarm system is still activated, the alarm sounds.

If the interior monitoring system has been deactivated, the LED in the buttonlights up. In addition, the LED

After the vehicle is locked, the LED in the driver's door pad flashes quickly for approximately 3 seconds. After approximately 30 seconds, the LED starts flashing slowly. The interior monitoring system will be activated again the next time the vehicle is locked.

CAUTION!

If the vehicle is locked from the outside and the anti-theft alarm is armed, no one, and especially no children, should be inside the vehicle, as it is impossible to open the doors and windows from the inside. Locking the doors makes rescue from the outside more difficult. Danger to life!
