Move the gear selector lever to the M position.

Press the gear change button on the side of the gear selector lever.

UP (+): Shift to a higher gear.

DOWN (-): Shift to a lower gear.

To maintain the necessary level of safety and vehicle performance, the system may not carry out some gear change commands given with the gear selector lever.

In manual mode, the transmission downshifts automatically when the vehicle decelerates. When the vehicle stops, first gear is engaged automatically.

Caution Change gears according to road conditions.

Engine Braking

To use engine braking when descending long hills, select manual mode and downshift gradually.

Warning Do not downshift by two or more gears at the same time.

Failure to do so may damage the transmission or cause loss of vehicle control and personal injury.

Note Using engine braking when descending long, steep hills may extend brake service life.

Freeing a Stuck Vehicle

Use this procedure only when the vehicle is stuck in sand, mud or snow.

It consists of alternately moving the gear selector lever between D and R positions.

Keep the engine speed as low as possible to avoid sudden acceleration once normal traction is regained.

Parking

After the vehicle has stopped by pressing the brake pedal, select P, pull the parking brake lever firmly up, then remove the key from the ignition switch.

Forced Downshift

For greater acceleration, press the accelerator pedal fully down and hold it. The transmission will downshift depending on engine speed.

Malfunction

If a fault occurs, the engine warning lamp will illuminate. The gear ratio cannot be changed either automatically or manually, because the transmission has locked in one of the gears.

Have the cause of the fault corrected at a service center.
