Multiplex network architecture

GENERAL

The vehicle is equipped with 4 multiplex networks, each operating in a specific environment. The multiplexed networks are managed by a central control unit, the BSI (Intelligent Servitude Unit).

CAN NETWORK

Characteristics of the CAN network

The CAN network manages all the control units of the powertrain. Information transmission is much faster than on the VAN networks. As the CAN network manages the braking system and the suspension, its speed allows the vehicle to react over a short distance, regardless of road conditions. The fast processing of information on the CAN network is therefore a guarantee of safety.

The CAN network is a so-called “multi-master” network, in which each control unit continuously broadcasts information, which is received by the other control units that need it. 250 kbits/s.

Note: CAN stands for “Controller Area Network”.

VAN BODY 1 NETWORK

Characteristics of the VAN Body 1 network

The VAN Body 1 network is described as the “safety network”, as it manages the airbag system as well as the BSM (Engine Servitude Unit), which integrates the vehicle's power electrical controls.

The small number of control units on this network allows fast communication between them, which enables precise airbag deployment in the event of a collision.

The VAN Body network is a so-called “master-slave” network. The BSI sends requests to each control unit connected to the VAN Body network. 62,5 kbits/s.

Note: VAN stands for “Vehicle Area Network”.
