Axle Shaft Seals

GENERAL INFORMATION

Axle shaft seal A. HAMMER

Remove or disconnect:

Required Tools and Equipment.

– puller KM-507B.

PROCEDURE.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Raise the vehicle and secure it properly.

3. Wheels.

4. Splash shields.

5. Disconnect the lower ball joint.

6. Disconnect the steering tie rod ends.

7. Remove the axle shafts from the housing. Special tools are required to remove the axle shafts from the transaxle.

8. Remove the axle shaft seals.

Installation

PROCEDURE.

1. Install the axle shaft seals using an installer tool and a hammer. Before

installation, lubricate the seal lip with clean transmission oil.

2. Axle shafts.

3. Lower ball joint.

4. Steering tie rod ends.

5. Check the transmission oil level. If necessary, top up the oil and

bring the level to the specified level.

6. Splash shields.

7. Wheels.

8. Lower the vehicle.

9. Negative battery cable.
