Automatic Transmission
Special Additives
The manufacturer strongly recommends against using any special additives in the transmission. Automatic transmission fluid (ATF) is a specially engineered product, and its performance may be degraded by additives. Therefore, do not add any additives to the transmission fluid. Avoid using transmission sealers, as they may adversely affect the seals.
Fluid Level Check
The fluid level is set at the factory and does not require adjustment under normal operating conditions. Regular fluid level checks are not required; therefore, the transmission does not have a dipstick. An authorized dealer can check the transmission fluid level using special service tools. If you notice a fluid leak or transmission malfunction, contact an authorized dealer immediately to have the transmission fluid level checked. Operating the vehicle with an incorrect fluid level may cause serious transmission damage.
Fluid and Filter Replacement - 8-Speed Transmission
Under normal operating conditions, the factory-fill fluid will provide satisfactory lubrication for the life of the vehicle.
Regular fluid and filter replacement is not required. However, replace the fluid and filter if the fluid becomes contaminated (with water, etc.), or if the transmission has been disassembled for any reason.
Lubricant Selection
Using the correct transmission fluid is important to ensure optimum transmission performance and service life. Use only the transmission fluid specified by the manufacturer. It is important to maintain the proper transmission fluid level using the recommended fluid.
NOTE:
Chemical flushes must not be used in any transmission; only approved lubricant should be used.
