LPG and Natural Power versions
The engine always starts in petrol mode, regardless of the mode selected previously.
CAUTION
103) Running the engine in an enclosed space is dangerous. The engine consumes oxygen and emits carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and other toxic gases.
104) Until the engine is running, the brake servo and the electric power steering do not operate, so considerably greater force is needed to press the brake pedal and to turn the steering wheel.
105) If the engine does not start with a gear engaged, a potentially dangerous situation arises in which the gearbox automatically shifts to neutral; this is signalled by an audible signal.
CAUTION
27) After a long journey, before switching off the engine, let it run at idle and wait until the temperature in the engine compartment has dropped.
28) If the warning lamp
flashes for 60 seconds after starting the engine, or during prolonged cranking, this indicates a fault in the glow plug pre-heating system. If the engine has started, the vehicle may still be driven, but contact a Fiat authorised dealer as soon as possible.
29) During the initial period of use, it is recommended not to subject the vehicle to maximum loads (e.g. rapid acceleration, prolonged driving at maximum engine speed, hard braking, etc.).
30) Do not leave the ignition key in the MAR position when the engine is switched off, to avoid unnecessary current draw and discharging of the battery.
31) Never start the engine by pushing, towing or rolling down a slope. Such manoeuvres may cause fuel to flow into the catalytic converter and irreversibly damage it.
32) It is therefore essential that the fuel tank always contains sufficient fuel reserve to maintain the correct condition of the petrol pump and to guarantee temporary switching from LPG to petrol operation when better performance is demanded.
33) Pressing the accelerator pedal before switching off the engine serves no purpose; it only causes unnecessary fuel consumption and is particularly harmful for engines with a turbocharger.
