Piston. Disassembly and Assembly of Sub-Systems

DISASSEMBLY

   Remove and discard the piston rings.

   • Remove and discard the piston pin retainers.

   • Remove the piston pin.

   

3. 3
   Remove the piston from the connecting rod.

   Inspect the piston and connecting rod.
   Refer to: Piston Inspection (303-00 Engine System - General Information, General Procedures).

   

ASSEMBLY

1. 1
   Points to the front of the engine.

   

2. 2
   Install the piston on the connecting rod.

   

3. 3
   Lubricate the piston pin with clean engine oil and install it.
   Material: Engine Oil — SAE 5W-20 — Synthetic Engine Oil / XO-5W20-Q1SP (WSS-M2C945-B1)

   Install new piston pin retainers.

   Lubricate with clean engine oil and install new piston rings.
   Material: Engine Oil - SAE 5W-20 - Synthetic Engine Oil / XO-5W20-Q1SP (WSS-M2C945-B1)

   1. Top compression ring gap location.

   2. Bottom compression ring gap location.

   3. Upper oil control ring rail gap location.

   4. Expander ring gap location.

   5. Lower oil control ring rail gap location.
