Playing Files on a USB Flash Drive

~6min read

The audio system lets you listen to files stored on a USB flash drive. Use the same controls and buttons used for the built-in CD player or CD changer to operate the USB flash drive. To play files on a USB flash drive, connect the drive to the USB adapter cable located in the upper glove box, then press the CD/AUX button.

The ignition switch must be in the ACCESSORY (I) or ON (II) position.

The audio system can play MP3, WMA, or AAC* audio files. Depending on the format of the file stored on the USB flash drive, MP3, WMA, or AAC appears on the display. The number of folders on the USB flash drive must not exceed 700, and the total number of audio files must not exceed 65535.

*: Only AAC files encoded with iTunes can be played.

A USB flash drive of 256 MB or more with a FAT file system is recommended. The audio system is also compatible with some digital audio players.

The audio system does not support some USB flash drives, such as those locked for security reasons. For more information, see your authorized Honda dealer.

• Do not connect devices such as a card reader or external hard drive to the audio system. Otherwise, your data may be damaged.

• Do not connect the USB flash drive through a hub.

• Do not use an extension cable when connecting the device through the vehicle's connection cable.

• Do not leave the USB flash drive in the vehicle. Direct sunlight and heat may damage it.

• We recommend backing up your data before using the device.

• The delay before playback starts after connecting the device depends on the type and number of files stored.

• Files recorded with some software may not play, or some text information may not appear on the display.

• Some devices do not receive power or charge through the USB port. In this case, use a special cable to connect the device to a power outlet.

• The file order in the USB flash drive playlist may differ from the order shown by a computer or other device. Files play in the order they are stored on the USB flash drive.

• In some cases, text information may be displayed incorrectly. This depends on the software used for encoding and recording.

Some versions of MP3, WMA, and AAC formats may not be supported. If an unsupported file is detected, UNSUPPORTED appears on the display, and the audio system skips to the next file.

WMA or AAC files with Digital Rights Management (DRM) cannot be played. In this case, UNPLAYABLE FILE appears on the audio system display, and playback of the next file starts.

Recording at a low sampling frequency combined with a low bit rate may degrade sound quality.
