Poly-V belt
Removal
PROCEDURE
1. Loosen the water pump pulley mounting bolts.
2. Loosen the alternator support nuts.
3. Loosen the alternator mounting bolt and remove the poly-V belt.

4. Remove the water pump pulley mounting bolts.
Tightening torque:
Generator pivot bolt (A): 20–25 N·m
Generator bolt (B): 15–22 N·m
Generator bracket bolt: 20–28 N·m
Inspection
Inspect the following items and replace them if defective.
PROCEDURE
1. Inspect the poly-V belt surface for damage and cracks.
2. Inspect the poly-V belt surface for oil and grease.
3. Inspect the poly-V belt surface for uneven wear.

4. Inspect the pulley surface for cracks or damage.
Installation
PROCEDURE
1. Install the pump pulley and secure it with the bolts.
2. After installing the poly-V belt, adjust its tension.
Installation
PROCEDURE

1. Check the condition of the poly-V belt and its routing on the pulleys.
Check that the ribs of the poly-V belt are correctly seated in the pulley grooves.
If the poly-V belt makes abnormal noise during operation, check the belt for wear and damage, as well as the pulley contact surfaces.

2. Use a special tool to measure the generator drive belt tension. If the special tool is not available, check the belt tension by pressing on the belt with a force of 100 N (10 kg) at a point equidistant from the pulleys, and measure the belt deflection.
Generator drive belt tension:
New belt: 65–75 kg
Used belt: 40 kg
Inspection: 35–50 kg
Generator and power steering pump drive belt tension:
New belt: 55–70 kg
Used belt: 38–48 kg
Generator and air conditioner drive belt tension:
New belt: 60–70 kg
Used belt: 32–40 kg
Inspection: 25–50 kg
A belt that has run on the engine for more than 5 min is considered a used belt.
Measuring belt tension with special tool type A
PROCEDURE

When measuring the tension of the poly-V belt, the tool must not touch other engine components.
Measuring belt tension with special tool type B
PROCEDURE
1. When measuring, make sure you turn the reset button in the direction of the arrow to return the tool pointer to its initial position.

2. After removing the tool from the belt, the pointer will still indicate the belt tension.
Do not adjust belt tension by hand, as this method does not provide sufficient accuracy and the belt may slip on the pulleys. Always use the special tool.
Check that the belt tension is within the specified values.
Check belt tension after tightening the pivot bolt and the alternator mounting bolt.
