Lower Control Arm Bushing (G) Replacement

PROCEDURE

1. Install the special tool on the lower control arm.

2. Press out the bushing.
3. Apply soap solution to the following parts:
– outer surface of the new bushing;
– inner surface of the lower control arm bushing bore.

4. Using the special tool, install the new bushing into the lower control arm.
Inspection

PROCEDURE

1. Check the bushing for wear or deterioration.
2. Check the lower control arm for bending or damage.
3. Check the ball joint dust boot for cracks.
4. Check all bolts for condition.

5. Check the torque required to turn the ball joint stud of the lower arm.
6. If the dust boot is cracked, replace the ball joint.
7. Rock the ball joint stud of the lower arm back and forth several times.
8. Measure the torque required to turn the ball joint stud of the lower arm.
Torque: 3.5–10 N·m
9. If the torque exceeds the specified value, replace the ball joint.
10. If the torque is significantly lower than the specified value, the ball joint can be reused if it does not bind and has no excessive play.
