Inspection of spark plugs, inspection of high-tension spark plug wires
INSPECTION OF SPARK PLUGS (WHEN THE CRANKSHAFT CAN BE CRANKED BY THE STARTER)
Connect the high-tension spark plug wire to the spark plug removed from the cylinder head.
Connect the outer electrode (shell) of the spark plug to ground (to the engine bracket). Crank the engine with the starter. If the spark plug is good, a spark will jump across the electrodes (fairly weak, since the discharge occurs in air at a small gap). If the spark plug is faulty, no spark will appear due to charge leakage through the spark plug insulator.

INSPECTION OF HIGH-TENSION SPARK PLUG WIRES
1. Check the cap and wire insulation for cracks.

2. Measure the wire resistance.

The resistance of the high-tension spark plug wire must not exceed 10 kΩ (BOUGI) or 22 kΩ (R16AIPS) per meter of wire length.
If the wire resistance exceeds the specified value, replace the wire.
